Centre for Northern Innovation in Mining

CanNor is delivering $5.6 million over four years on behalf of the Government of Canada for capital costs related to the Yukon Centre for Northern Innovation in Mining (CNIM).

Located in Whitehorse, at Yukon College's Ayamdigut Campus, CNIM will be a state-of-the-art education, training and research facility for people looking to begin a career in the mining industry as well as for those who want to improve their skills. Through the Centre, thousands of Yukoners and Northerners will have access to accredited career training opportunities.  With this training, Northerners will have improved access to high quality skilled trades jobs to meet workforce demand in the growing resource development and exploration sector.

The investment also supports the construction of a mobile trades school that will make training more accessible by delivering courses in smaller communities and at mine sites in Yukon.
