Northern Aboriginal Economic Opportunities Program (NAEOP)
The Northern Aboriginal Economic Opportunities Program (NAEOP) is intended to increase the participation of northern Aboriginal communities and businesses in economic opportunities. NAEOP is made up of two program streams:
- The Community Readiness and Opportunities Planning fund, and
- The Entrepreneurship and Business Development fund.
NAEOP, which took effect on April 1, 2014, harmonizes CanNor's former four Aboriginal Economic Development programs: Community Economic Development Program, Community Support Services Program, Community Economic Opportunities Program, and Aboriginal Business Development Program.
The program is delivered by the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor) in Canada's three territories. CanNor works closely with Aboriginal governments and organizations to understand and address the economic development needs of Aboriginal groups in accordance with the Federal Framework for Aboriginal Economic Development.
